EDMA Use and Licensing

The Ecological Dynamics Model for Aviation (EDMA) is an original framework developed by Flight Envelope. It integrates perceptual, cognitive-affective, and ecological dimensions of pilot performance into a nested model that centres the pilot and reframes how we design training through a perception-action lens.

Flight Envelope EDMA is a registered trade mark (pending) of Flight Envelope.

Using the EDMA Model

The EDMA model is available under a tiered licensing structure. This allows wide access for research and education while ensuring the model's integrity is maintained.

Important Safety Notice

The EDMA model is a theoretical framework for understanding pilot performance and informing training design. It is not operational guidance. It does not replace, override, or modify any regulatory requirements, approved training syllabi, or safety procedures issued by CASA, the FAA, or any other aviation authority.

Flight Envelope does not warrant that the EDMA model will achieve any particular training outcome. All training decisions, safety assessments, and regulatory compliance remain the sole responsibility of the organisation or individual applying the model.

Users of the EDMA model must ensure that any training program, syllabus, or assessment framework incorporating the model complies with all applicable aviation regulations and approved standards in their jurisdiction.

The EDMA model is provided as is. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Flight Envelope accepts no liability for any loss, damage, or injury arising from the use or application of the model.
